I have Great memories of my nan even though she died when i was 6 and a half, Funny how some small
things stay in your mind, 1 of them being how she used to save all her spare pennies and put them on
the fire place in 3 piles one for my sister, me and brother.
This stands out as my nanny wasn\\\\\\\'t well off and was also a widower but every week she did
that without fail.
My nan had suffered all her adult life with underactive thyroid which she left her so embarrassed
about her weight and rarely went out. By the time the doctors had corrected this she had become just
too scared to leave the house. She was almost blind too. But she always had friends round and was
loved by most, nan always believed in the old London saying, That there was never a problem that
couldn\\\\\\\'t be sorted over a cup of tea. So there was always a fresh pot of tea on the go with a
knitted tea cosy on top.
My nan was loving and cuddly and loved her fat ginger cat Tom very much,(we all did he was fat and
squidgy lol), after nan died this faithful little cat disappeared never to be seen again.
Sadly when my granddad Charlie died in 1966 from a blood clot in his brain as he was working as a
dustman and after that, my nan no longer had the heart to carry on in life, not even all her
grandchildren could make her happy. (Nanny Ethel and Granddad Charlie had been married since 1945)
She died of a heart attack but we all know it was a broken one. Lots and Lots of people went to
nan\\\\\\\'s funeral showing how much she was loved, even family travelling from Canada came.
Nan I just want to know i have never forgotten you and never will. I love you nan and i hope I have
made you proud.
God Bless nanny Ethel xxxxxxxxxxxx
Love you more than you\\\\\\\'ll ever know xxxxxxxxxx
Nanny Look after your great grandbabies Karl and Aysha till we get there.
Also remembering Granddad Charlie, Although i never met him,
From what i have been told he was a decent,
hardworking, Loving man
who idolised his Ethel.
Goodnight Granddad . Love you always xxxxxx
